He is a community farmer who delivers meals to seniors, a proud grandparent, and someone deeply connected to the land and people of Buncombe County, always focused on giving back and taking care of his neighbors.

Lonnie Israel is a lifelong Buncombe County native and the retired owner of Jesse Israel & Sons Nursery, a family business he operated for decades. Through that experience, he learned what it takes to sustain a local legacy and operate a small business while navigating the challenges of regulations and rising costs. Lonnie will work towards:
